Azerbaijan State Academy of Fine Arts in partnership with The British Council, and with the support of the Access Bank organizes  the exhibition of contemporary works from the rich and versatile British Council collection that will take place on 25 November, 12.00 at the Academy of Fine Arts!

“Seeing in Colour” is an exhibition of prints from the British Council Collection, from the 1960s to the present day. “Seeing in Colour” aims to examine the history of colour, how artists have developed colours from ground bones and blood.

Visitors will have a chance to view contemporary pieces by some of UK’s leading artists such as Damien Hirst, Alan Davie, Patrick Caulfield, Paul Huxley, Patrick Heron, along side works by Eduardo Paolozzi and John Hoyland. Some of these are names very well known worldwide; others still demand international recognition; all of them have already made a statement of their own in the history of British art.

Moreover, on 22- 24 November 2010 Azerbaijani young artists from Azerbaijan State Academy of Fine Arts had an exciting chance to participate in creative workshops organised by the British Council and run by Clare Mitten, UK artist at the Academy of Fine Arts. Students from the Arts Academy had an unique chance to explore the works in the exhibition and translate them into a three-dimensional construction.
